bierut films was founded by independent filmmaker drew bierut to create vertical, commercial, political, and original content
vertical
The war for your attention will never end. And the smartphone has emerged as the most effective weapon.
When you see someone glued to their phone, they’re usually watching video. In fact, 63% of mobile traffic is video. Almost always (94% of the time), people watch videos on their phone vertically.
It’s more than just a change in aspect ratio. It’s a complete transformation in how we create and experience content.
Drew Bierut is a leading expert on the format. He has partnered with Snap since the dawn of their vertical content rollout back in 2014. Starting as the showrunner for Good Luck America, the world’s first and longest running vertical series, Drew has driven the format forward for as long as it has existed. He continues to pioneer vertical across the original series and brand campaigns that he directs.
commercial
When creating commercials and branded content, we bring an indie filmmaker sensibility to achieve a cinematic aesthetic. We create ads with heart and personality for all of our many clients -- AMC, Freshpet, MIT Media Lab, MeUndies, The Broad Institute, Playwright Horizons, Barnes & Noble, Yale School of Nursing, Voyce Technologies and others.
Our favorite collaborations come from our longform partnerships on branded campaigns. With clients like Virgin Galactic, SYFY Wire, and The National Kidney Foundation, we have grown their commercial and digital media presence across social media channels.
political
When it comes to supporting the candidates, organizations, and movements that reflect our values, we are always available to lend our storytelling skills to help make their ideas a reality. A passion for creating positive change in the world will always be at our core.
We have proudly created content for Humanity Forward, Priorities USA, The Bulwark, and Lambda Legal.
original
Original content is the heartbeat of Bierut Films. Our vision has always been to tell imaginative and personal stories alongside our more commercial ventures.
Our latest short film “Bob” is finding early success on its festival run. So far, it’s been selected as a finalist in the L.A. Film Fest Independent Filmmaker’s Showcase for Fall 2022. Additionally, the short won three prizes in the Los Angeles Film Awards monthly competition. “Best Romantic Comedy” “Best Ensemble” (Emma Pasarow, Talia Rose Goodman, Dillon J Stücky, Michael Bonini, Hugo Mejia) & “Best Director” (Drew Bierut).
from drew
On a summer afternoon in July of 1999, I received a small but powerful Sony DV Camcorder for my 9th birthday. It was love at first sight. It was game over with no looking back: a young daydreamer became enchanted by a vision of making movies lifelong.
Kids today are armed with pocket-sized movie-making super computers. They’re pumping out wildly creative TikToks and Snapsterpieces practically in their sleep. A far cry from my old Sony DV Camera, but the principles are eternal.
If it’s fun, if it’s entertaining, if it’s moving… then it’s all magic. If I get to do this stuff for a living (in any capacity), I’m a lucky man. But if I can continue to make content that serves and inspires the next generation of movie makers, with the best and newest tools possible? Then I am truly living my dream.
